Frequently asked questions

What to know before your appointment

What identification should I bring?

Bring a current government-issued photo identification acceptable under California law. Confirm acceptable identification when scheduling if you are unsure.

Do you provide legal advice or prepare documents?

No. A notary public verifies identity, witnesses signatures when required, and completes the appropriate notarial certificate. A notary who is not an attorney cannot provide legal advice or choose documents for you.

How are fees determined?

Pricing may include the state-authorized notarial fee, travel, printing, scanbacks, waiting time, after-hours service, or loan signing services. Your expected fee will be explained before the appointment.

Can you meet at a hospital or care facility?

Yes, subject to facility rules, signer awareness, acceptable identification, witness availability, and appointment scheduling.
